Mocean365 attends "Boot Cancer" competition in St Albans Vermont.

The Mocean365 crew just got back from the 2010 Boot Cancer Event in St Albans, Vermont with some awards to go along with their sore muscles. The team was comprised of Jen Grant, Brad Grant, Angel Roy,  Chris Thompson, Megan Walsh and Skye Nacel along with the support crew of Bethany and Pierce Thompson and Pam Hansen.
The First event of the day was a circuit comprised of 1 minute of the following movements… rowing, pushups with hands elevated at bottom, box jumps/step ups, 30 meter shuttle run, and Kettlebell Thrusters. All were done consecutively until done with each round, where a one minute rest was allowed for a total of three rounds. The team pushed on hard through the burn.

The second event was Tire flipping and Sandbag carrying. The format was as follows.
25 meter tire flips, 25 meter sand bag carries and one 400 meter run.

Run back
Flip tire

Flip tire
Grab sandbag(s) and run
Now bring back all of your sandbags to the starting line (you can carry more than one)
Once all sandbags are across the starting line stacked in your tire, run 400 meters once
This turned out to be a very grueling but spectator friendly event with the whole crew yelling and screaming for their teams. Super fun! I was able to come in second overall in this event due to pounding a bunch of Mate minutes before my heat. Also being barefoot allowed me the freedom to maintain a rhythm that i may not have been able to do if i was shod.

Aaron Fondry  won the event overall and is a undefeated mixed martial artist who has some big upcoming fight so props to him for training hard and coming out on top. We’ll see if i can close the gap on him a bit next year?
Our team had the top fundraiser individual,Jen Grant and we were the top fund raising team overall. We even put some people on the podium too with Megan tied for second in her class while I somehow won my class and finished third overall for the event, not bad for an old surf bum eh.?  Big props to all of the team who set a goal, stuck with it and NEVER gave up!So proud of everyone on the team for their hard work and determination which is so f^&*%ing inspiring!!
We raised some money for cancer while spreading the word about movement  and set a team goal and completed it and heck maybe made some people give some thoughts to taking off the “foot condoms”(shoes), in the process?!
Big thanks to the organizer Lisa, all the volunteers and sponsors and spectators and to our great support crew Bethany and Pierce and friends and family who offered support and donations to the cause as well. We are already getting ready for next year!
